In this month’s destination issue we take you on a journey through the diverse landscape of Vietnam. From the fast-paced, concrete jungles of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to the sleepy, laid-back beach town of Da Nang to the quaint, artsy vibes of Hoi An, there’s something in this issue that is sure to awaken your senses.

In Ho Chi Minh, we visit with the Founder of Allambie Orphanage, Suzanne Thi Hien Hook, as she delves into being a “war baby” – half Black and half Vietnamese in an orphanage and how this experience led her to sell everything and become the Founder of Allambie Orphanage in HCM City. From HCM we ventured up the coast to Da Nang where the beaches are pristine and the food is known to be some of the best in the entire country. We give you a glimpse into the region’s culinary delights while profiling the founder of Summer Le’s Funtastic Da Nang Food Tour. To wash it all down, Bruce “Blue” Rivera hips you to a variety of Vietnamese rice wines. Continuing on with our journey, Marcus White writes about his experience getting tailored made threads in the famous clothing district of Hoi An and Davita McKelvey explains how we got our entire lives at Ba Na Hills – a castle-themed amusement park where you have to take a gondola high up into the clouds to get to.We’ve all heard how much cheaper medical procedures are overseas. Well, Brian Blake puts that revelation to the test as he goes to have an impromptu dental procedure done on our first night in HCM City! During our time in-country, we noticed scooters are the preferred mode of transportation there – from simply getting to one point to another to actually hauling large quantities of supplies and equipment. You will be surprised at just how much you can fit on a scooter when our resident photographer, Camara Clayton takes you on a photographic journey in “Piled High.”

There’s so much in this issue that I can’t fit it all here but I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. So please, sit back with your favorite cup of Vietnamese tea and dive in!
