Gioncarlo Valentine

Gioncarlo Valentine is a writer and self-taught photographer from Baltimore, Maryland, living and working in New York City. Valentine’s main photographic style is portraiture and fashion. With his work Gioncarlo attempts to reconcile with his own trauma, the trauma of being Black in America, and the under-representation of Black beauty and self-directed narrative in the visual landscape. Gioncarlo is a college drop-out, transgender rights advocate, and writer whose photographic work has been featured within Harper’s Bazaar, Fader, and Afropunk.
