ARCHIVISTS’ NOTE | DECEMBER 2018

It’s the end of the year. For many, this is a time of reflection and renewal and it’s no different for Griots Republic. We’re looking forward to the new year and in doing so have started asking the questions that most hard core travelers ask, “So where are we going?”

Internally, we plan to take Griots Republic to the next level – new themes, new methods of reaching you and of course, new merchandise at our merchandise site, www.BlackTravel.com. Physically, we are setting up our travel agendas for 2019 and we’re excited by the options!

We get the opportunity to work with so many Black Travel groups and bloggers throughout the year and one of the benefits of that is that we get to see behind the scenes. We get glimpses of all of the hard work they do in preparation for you. So let me key you into something, the 2019 trips these groups are offering are going to be BANGERS.

From Iran to Croatia, Black Travel Group Tour providers are killing it. Many of you have never had the opportunity to book with these vendors, so in this issue, we wanted to give them space to introduce themselves and to impress you with their offerings. So definitely take a look at the itineraries of the groups in this issue and remember that there’s a lid for every pot. If one group doesn’t fit your taste, then move to the next. But move and move quickly because these tours sell out in hours.

Now, aside from the Black Travel Itineraries, it is is the holidays so in Griots Republic style we brought you article on Global Holiday traditions, How Hanukkah came to America and our top 8 gifts for your traveling man. We also had the pleasure of interviewing KweliTV’s CEO, Deshuna Spencer. She is a traveler and innovator and more importantly, she creates a space for content that speaks to a nomad’s soul. Definitely check her out and make sure to support the vendors who create content for you.

With all of that said, we want to wish you all Happy Holidays and thank you for sticking it out with us another year. And finally, we pray that your New Year reflects the you that you want to thrive.

Travel well,

Davita McKelvey
